  • Caught shoplifting from primark

Hi i’m currently 16 years of age, and today i got caught shoplifting one item which was a skirt which cost £4.

I had bought a pair of trousers also, so i was walking out the shop and a security guard stopped me as i was leaving, and told me he had to check my bag and took me to an office with another woman.

I have never stolen before, and they took down my name and date of birth and age, however they didn’t take now my address or anything else.

They photocopied my oyster photo card and told me i was banned from primark for a month.

They didn’t tell me anything else, so do you think i will receive any letters of fines, as i don’t want to tell my parents about this,

    Will i get a criminal record ?

I am unsure of what will happen so some help would be much needed.

    Thank you

    Hi and welcome

First up you will not get a criminal record over this incident

unusual they didn't take your address.
I can only surmise that seeing your age, and the very low value of the item, they felt banning you for one month was sufficient
If they don't have your address how can they write to you?
Don't suppose you will hear more about this, but if you do you can always come back here for advice.

can understand why you would not want to tell your parents, but if there is any follow up please confide in them.
Although they are bound to be a bit disappointed, I would hope they would support you as it is a very small peccadillo

Now forget about it and get back to your studies
