  • Does the RLP letter contain evidence?

    Hello,
I’d like to start by saying i’m very ashamed of my actions. i’m 17 and going through a rough time and while that is no excuse, this is incredibly out of character for me. this is the first and last time i’ve ever shoplifted, but i got caught on CCTV and am expecting my letter to come through soon.
will it include any evidence, mention in detail the crime or how it’s been recorded, or any pictures of the CCTV footage?
    Thanks & Sorry x

    Hi and welcome

RLP's letter will be a template, full of waffle and threats, inviting you to pay them around £150
There will be no evidence, no detail no CCTYV footage.
To write individual letters costs money, and all this outfit is interested in is collecting money.

    Just ignore them.
If you write asking for the evidence, or a breakdown of the amount demanded, you will receive another letter even more threatening than the first. with a fantasy breakdown of their costings.
As you have responded to them, they will assume you are concerned and so vulnerable to their demands .
And so they will redouble their efforts to relieve you of your money

    Just ignore them.

Are they aware of your age?
If so, and if you are still living with your parents, they may well write to them if they receive no response from you.
It may be advisable to warn your parents.

my parents already know and they’re aware of my age. it’s just my ‘friend’ has blamed the entire thing on me when technically i did not steal anything however i do look guilty because it was my bad she was using. it was more to clear my name to my mum than anything else.
thank you very much anyway, the advice is appreciated
