I don't know if this is the right place to post this, and I've never used a forum before so.. Please bear with me. We're on a camping holiday in Mouterndorf in Austria and we went out today and heard there was torrential rain. Our tent is situated at the entrance to the campsite which is right at the bottom of a slope. We were given no prior warnings about flooding or any information about what to do in the event of the flood. Out tent is now ankle deep in water with electricals, food, clothes and beds water damaged (some beyond repair) with no staff around to help at all and nowhere to go it's currently 11pm and we have just returned after visiting family We consulted them about puddles outside the tent yesterday and we were given a wooden crate to put over the top of them. We have 6 children with us and the four adulThe given the current situation are we legally entitled to claim back hotel accommodation and compensation for our losses.

Hold on Marchants ... my fella is half Austrian. I'll ask him if he has any ideas who you can contact as soon as I've put my little girly to sleep and get back to you xxDebt is like any other trap, easy enough to get into, but hard enough to get out of.
It doesn't matter where your journey begins, so long as you begin it...

According to my fella there should be someone on reception ...
Are you in Mauterndorf? There are drying rooms etc... that you should be able to use too!Debt is like any other trap, easy enough to get into, but hard enough to get out of.

You could also try calling the police (133) ... They would be more than willing to come out and find staff members and help out xxDebt is like any other trap, easy enough to get into, but hard enough to get out of.

I'm making this post as a mother not as legal advice on behalf of my firm (that may come later )
Right now you need to do whatever makes you and your tribe feel better.
Without seeing the Ts & Cs relating to your holiday booking it's not possible to say whether you can claim back your costs of alternative accommodation.
Whether 'weather' (torrential rain) is covered as a peril in your holiday insurance (was insurance included in your booking etc?) is an issue to be explored.
All I can say is that sometimes children adapt to weather dramas and camping mishaps better than us adults (I like my creature comforts) because they see them as an adventure.
Please don't think I'm belittling your holiday nightmare . I'm only trying to make you feel better about the responsibility you're understandably feeling for other people's happiness.
My daughter is in the music business so goes to Glastonbury each year. If her tent wasn't full of water and uninhabitable due to mud then she would feel cheated and have nothing to post on Instagram.
Do what feels right for you and take Kati advice about telling the right people why you're doing it in the absence of them providing an alternative solution.
Take photos of everything as evidence in case you need it.
