I just caught shoplifting in tesco now. But to be frank, i have forgotten about d items becuase i was on the phone. As i was about to enter the lift, the security guy and ununiform staff member came to me and i said i need to come out cause they need to speak to me. They took me to a small room and asked for my reciept. I showed them the receipt i have which has some of the items i paid for. D guy who wasnt wearing unifirm bend over and bring out d itema in my sons buggy. I said oh! I have totally forgotten about it and i will like to.pay for it. He said nop i cant has i stole them. I showed them my purse which has money in their and my privellage tesco card which my husband applied for me has he works in tesco in another branch. They said they r going to call the police if i dnt accept i stole them. I said i didnt jst that i forget to pay for them. To cut the story short, he wrote down my name on d card and checked it with my nhs card. The guy said they will be calling the branch where my husband works to report this, the card has been seized and am banned in all tesco for 12months. Is that true? I was told i will be receiving a letter soon regarding how am going to pay for the penalty. Is that true??? Will this be on my criminal record, will i be taking to court? Any1 in this situation b4? A friend of mine said i shouldnt have given them my real address and name. Have i made a huge mistake of doing so? Plz help

Re: Caught shoplifting in tesco - Advice please
Hi @Kati could you start a new thread for this
Hi there Jummy
First off - No you will not get a criminal record. the police weren't called , you weren't arrested or charged and most importantly you didn't accept either a police caution or were found guilty
So no don't worry about that.
If I were you I would stay well clear of Tesco from now on, you don't want to be embarrassed by being asked to leave
I think you must tell your husband as he may be asked some awkward questions
Is the privilege card something that gives you a discount because your husband works for them - I think you may have lost that now for good , a shame although there are cheaper places than tesco
You might receive a letter from someone like RLP - if you do I would ignore it and come back here for more advice
Not sure who the RLP specialists are on here
I think you did the right thing giving your real name and address- if they had found out you had lied they would have called the police
