  • New car

Hi just a quick question, bought brand new car mid March, car went into Limp Mode, garage had car on May 7th still has car to date Reason? Car won't except update. I am in contact with garage and Ford Customer Services but seem to be getting nowhere with them, I think 6 weeks is more than adequate to fix this problem. They have loaned me a courtesy car in the mean while. What are my rights under the Consumer Act as I'm paying for a car that I'm not using. Any help appreciated.

    Re: New car

Well if it was me, I'd be writing a letter of rejection to the dealer.
The Sale of Goods Act 1979 states the vehicle must be "of satisfactory quality" and "fit for purpose"
If it fails on any of these points in the first six months you are entitled to have it repaired, replaced or have a full or partial refund.
IMO they have had it long enough for repair and you should now reject the vehicle and request a replacement or a refund.
When you purchased the vehicle did you pay any of the purchase price with a credit card?

PS how did you get on with RMS Receivables?

      Re: New car

Hi des8 , unfortunately I Paid a deposit with debit card , however with RMS Recivables I disputed the bill for damage to paint work on doors as I had taken photographs of vehicular beforehand, and they sent me a revised bill for mileage and slight scuff to alloy wheels, which in my opinion was fair.
