Re: Halfords overfilled engine oil and refuse to repair vehicle fully!

I see! Great. And when its get to that point (which will be saturday) you can help me just add that into the wording for the particulars? Thanks..well am hoping to source one tommorrow. But as I have no car I'm going to get the cheapest form of transport there which is train. Would I be allowed to ask for my train cost back? and the prior taxi costs? I guess i'd need a reciept for when I bought the vehicle from? I'm buying from a private person so no idea what that would be..as i plan on going on temporary insurance on my fully comp one for the old vehicle

Oh I forgot to ask..beause it's a private seller..the seller said they'll just write on a piece of paper there name and address and they've sold the car to me..would that be good enough for a reciept for court purposes? I'd be getting logbook too but they have no service history of car as its a cheap banger lol

                That should be sufficient.

Well got a call to say the woman selling the car some 'wires' fell out dashbaord. No idea if it was genuine accident or she thought i'm going to give the car a throough check and come clean (because we know the same friends) so I decided to avoid the car. Don't want to buy one with electrical problems.
I'm gong to keep looking for something anyway

Just an update I wrote to halfords on the 31st about not returning my car and said the below :

                          RE: CASE XXX

                          Dear Halfords,

Following my prior communication with you I would like to ask that I can arrange a independent inspection of the vehicle held at your Halfords Autocentre XXX in order to ascertain the cost of repairs and also the replacement value of the vehicle.
Please may you notify me in writing of your acceptance or objection to this matter so that I can progress my investigation into this matter.
If you agree then I will also need a contact name and phone number so that the inspector can contact you directly to make the necessary arrangement.
I would appreciate a response within 7 working days.

                          Regards

I've today had this response :

I today have got a response to the inspection letter which is below:

We write further to your correspondence dated 31st January 2015 and received today by recorded delivery. We note your request that you wish to arrange an independent inspection of your vehicle.

We would of course confirm that you are absolutely within your rights to to arrange for said inspection. We would also seek to remind you that as we have rejected this claim and the vehicle remains your property, that we now require the removal of this car from our Nottingham Arnold Autocentre as a priority, or storage charges will become payable.

The Autocentre charge a daily rate of £15 per day which will commence from Friday at 5.00pm and we would ask that arrangements are put in place to facilitate the removal of your car as a priority.

We note we await service of your small claims court paperwork in this regard from your legal representative.

Re: Halfords overfilled engine oil and refuse to repair vehicle fully!

I have literally today sorted out a temporary run around as I hired a car today to look around areas. The car I plan on buying is a cheap run around for 600 pound.
considering halfords response I guess it is time to take the matter to mla ?
Would you still say it's wise of me to get a 600 pound run around? And I will have to get the car towed as with no catalytic converter and emission problems obv the car is unsafe to drive. Am unsure if buying another car is wise ? Any thoughts. Was going to get the car towed to my mothers house temporarily. thanjs

I assume you need a vehicle, just for day to day living, so why would it be a poor decision?
If you win your case you should not lose out.
Halfords have declined your request for reimbursement of your losses following negotiations and sending a "letter before action".
The only choice now is between court action or no action.
No action will get you zilch.
Court action might get you your losses reimbursed, or if you lose a slight increase in your losses.
