I really wonder where they are coming from.
The Statement of insurance shows "five years no claim discount"
Was a discount allowed for this? and did you have to provide proof by way of the previous insurer's renewal notice?
It would be most unusual for an insurer to allow NCD without proof. Such notice is proof that previous insurers did not regard the earlier incident as a claim.

No they have given no indication of the discount, they in fact were the second cheapest on Confused.com, i have just done a search with them with 4 years no claims, the price was exactly the same - i am lost as to what they are doing too and very annoyed they can do this.

i found this on the FOS WEBSITE :

They are just a joke and not at all serious, the hassle we have been put through. They have never asked for documents to confirm the discount which they state they have given, in fact they only asked for claims history AFTER THE EVENT and now informed us of the rescinding, of the insurance, its very distressing.

Apparently just received notice that the Underwriters have accepted the claim as it stands as it was 5 years ago, and no further claims have been made, I have written to the Insurance company indicating that I am not happy with the Loss adjuster, so now will see what they do - been advised work will recommence in 3 days - the loss adjusters are just no good!!

Thank you for the support in this matter as always!

              You're welcome.
Glad to hear it has worked out satisfactorily.

Just one further point: you said (post 12) the house had been rendered unsafe. You could now claim under Buildings section 14 Alternative Accommodation, to cover the additional costs of alternative accommodation whilst your house cannot be lived in.
