  • Phone tapping.

A friend of mine, a man of repute, is leading a campaign about a Highways agency road proposal operating strictly within the law. . He cannot understand how the Highways agency has obtained certain private information and suspects that his telephone may have been tapped. I am amazed to hear that government departments are outside the normal law on this but surely that cannot be true.

As most government agencies contain a rogue element, it's quite possible that they have acted outside the law. Highways contracts are extremely lucrative.
