I sense and understand your frustration. There is nothing I would like more than to wave a wand and give you your dream holiday, but I can't. What they are saying (and you have every right to fight it and disagree with them) is they define significant change in their T&C's which you signed to adhere to.
The way they see it is you not adhering to what you signed for. Why sign the T&C's if you did not agree to them, especially when 'significant change' is defined there?
It is, I agree, really frustrating as from your child's POV the two hotels are massively different.
