  • Travel Insurance query

    Hope someone can help.
In December, British Airways held a seat sale and after contacting family in the US,we agreed to travel and stay with them for two weeks in June 2014.
This week we started firming up details only to find that the husband of thefamily we were to stay with(my cousins) has been sick all winter with a heart condition and is very ill at present. As it is unknown ow things will unfold, we feel that we may have to cancel. The other part of the family(a sister) could have put us up but following a telephone conversation yesterday, her husband has been diagnosed four weeks ago with bladder cancer.
I feel with so much uncertainty and stress on both families I must now cancel my flights which were non transferable/non refundable.

i have spoken to my insurance co today who say I am covered provided I get a medical certificated signed by my cousins GP. regarding illness etc. I feel I cant encroach on their current distress to ask for same.

I paid for the trip with Bank of Ireland Maestro card. Does anyone know if I can claim my money back through Maestro?

    Thank you
