  • Csl and castelan sofa damage just crazy

    Good evening everybody

Hope you are all well and your usual fabulous selves

In May 2011 I purchased a suite from CSL and it has ripped at the back of the chair, underneath the place where you put your back so its hidden, anyway I rang the Castelan people and they sent out an assessor who said it was manufacturing fault, so I contact CSL and they sent out an service manager who has said it is not a manufacturing fault but its accidental damage.

Please note I have no idea how the damaged happened, because you can't see it!!!

SO - I have a letter from CSL and another from Castelan both saying the exact opposite!!!!

    What to do?

    Its confused me!!!! :tinysmile_hmm_t2:

    Hi cowbag,

An assessor's word against a service manager - I know which I would prefer.

If the defect is 'hidden', it may have been there from when it came into your possession.

      Thank you for the link.

I wonder what would be a reasonable amount of time for a leather sofa to last. And isn't the onus on me to be able to say it was faulty? Haven't CSL covered themselves by saying it is accidental damage?

Thanks for your time. If I was to go to small claims court for example who would I take?

That might depend on what sort of lunch you'd buy.

For example, Celestine now expects better than just a bag of chips.

Well I think a bit of gravy on the chips should do the trick then!!

            Hi

Another good result for me since I have been using this site, the confidence you guys give me is outstanding.

Anyway what I did was write an email complaint to the MD of CSL and the CEO of Castelan group. CSL have looked into it and are adamant that it is accidental damage but as a gesture of goodwill they will pay half towards the repair. The CEO of Castelan group as looked into and he has confirmed that he thinks it is structural damage but as a gesture of goodwill he will replace the damaged parts with no charge.

So that's another weight of my mind.
