I wondered if anyone could offer some advice, I have a four year old renault koleos and tried to claim against the warranty but was refused as the car was not serviced at a renault approved dealer and didn't have any visual checks. This is a car that would of cost over £20,000 when new. I have owned the car for a year. The problem is all four doors are corroding at the top of the door under the seal which is coming through on the corners of the doors. Is there anyway I an get renault to contribute to this it is a manufacturing fault and if the servicing etc had been carried out by a renault dealer, they cover for 7 years. Any advice would be gratefully welcomed.

Re: Renult refusing to pay cost for corrosion
It's a standard term of warranty that appropriate service/ checks are performed. If they aren't, then the manufacturer isn't liable.
But I've never met a Renault owner who didn't say they are rust buckets. Sorry.

Re: Renult refusing to pay cost for corrosion
If you can prove that there are many other renaults of the same model and year that have the same defect, it could be termed a maufacturing defect and you could "possibly" and I emphasise "POSSIBLY" have a claim aginst REnault ....this would take a lot of time and expense carrying out such analysis.
That is the trouble with these long term warranty's they mut serviced and checked by a Reault Dealership or a Renualt approved service agent, who use genuine Renault spares and their labour charges are steep.........even if you replace a thing a simple as a battery that is not Renault approved say after 2 years...it voids the warranty for the whole vehicle.
So my advice to people beware of believing yiu have a 5 or 7 year unconditional warrarnty unless you hve the funds to py ll the extortionte labour charges |Renault charges ......you haven't .................it is in my view a ............"con".

Re: Renult refusing to pay cost for corrosion
Although... I have a Kia with a 7 year warranty. My service charges are, from the official garage, very reasonable - comparable with shopping around unless I go to "Joe Bloggs" down the road, who may be very good but....
I think, albeit I am not an expert at this, there are warranties and warranties. I previously had a Vauxhall, and the costs were over the moon! And back again! And seemed not to actually cover anything that went wrong even with an official dealer doing the service.

Unless you bought the shed-on-wheels from Renault UK as a second hand vehicle, you have no contract with them.
If you bought it from a motor-car dealer, you might be successful were you to invoke the Sale of Goods Act 1979 - but I doubt you would.
If you bought it from a private vendor, not even the SoGA would apply.
Otherwise, using Top Gear or Watchdog to persuade Renault to fix the fault gratis would be your best option.
