Thank you for your reply and interest in helping me. I have managed to fill them all out but unfortunately, it came back saying I am not entitled to anything. I am going to have to go through what they have sent me and see where I think I can make an appeal as I don't feel it is the right decision. I know there are people in a far worse off situation than myself, but I still feel I should be entitled to some form of help.
Ironically, included in the award letter, it suggests other benefits I may be able to get, and disabled persons rail card is listed in the list! But I would need DLA help to get this.

Yes, DLA is in many ways a "gateway" benefit in that if you are deemed entitled to it your entitlement to other benefits is automatic, especially on the higher rates. The converse is also true. There is a "knack" to answering the questions which is that you always look at the worst case scenario - be truthful but look on the black side; this makes it doubly upsetting filling in the myriad forms as people with disabilities and their carers are always trying to look for positives.

        Good luck with your appeal.

IMVHO - all the more reason they should give you a complimentary Disabled Rail Card!

          Thanks for your help.
Well I noticed in their reply letter that they said I am able to cook for myself, although in my claim, I had put that I am unable to stand for prolonged times when preparing a meal. As a way around this, I tend to cook microwave meals as they are extremely quick to do. Maybe I should not have mentioned that as they now deem me able to cook for myself. I have replied to their letter saying that I am surprised they would consider cooking microwave meals as a suitable means to look after myself. I would not consider this to be the most healthy of diets.

We will see what their response is!

Just be very careful - they have no sense of humour and will be looking to tick boxes. This is an Orwellian world, wrong though that is - don't give them any leeway.

Have you approached your GP for a letter? Are you seeing a specialist/consultant?
The more evidence you provide the stronger your case is.
