    LADIES AND GENTLEMEN

I DO NOT APPOLOGISE FOR CAPS ON IN THIS INSTANCE

all i ask you to do is read the words below, and i mean realy read their meanings. step back and consider how we have let of inherant values be eroded in the name of state security and protection

    SECRECY

The very word secrecy is repugnant in a free and open society and we are as a people inherent and historically opposed to secret societies, secret oaths and secret Proceedings. we decided long ago that the dangers of excessive and unwarranted concealment of pertinent facts far out way the dangers which are cited to justify it.

Even today, their is little value in opposing the threat of a closed society by imitating its arbitrary restrictions. Even today, their is little value in ensuring the survival of our nation, if our traditions do not survive with it, and their is very grave danger that the announced need for increased security will be seized upon by those anxious to expand its means to the very limits of official censorship and concealment.

That I do not intend to permit to the extent that is in my control. and no official of my administration ,whether his rank is high or low, civilian or military, should interpret my words tonight ,as an excuse to censor the news, to stifle descent, to cover up on the face, or with hold from the press or public facts they deserve to know.

    JOHN F KENNEDY

They that can give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety

    BENJAMIN FRANKLIN

ASK YOURSELF WHY ANY OF US HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THESE WORDS, I AM A CHAMPION OF HUMAN RIGHTS AND LIBERTIES ALL OF MY LIFE, AND YET I HAVE ONLY DISCOVERED THIS SPEECH BY JFK

IT SEND SHIVERS DOWN THE BACK OF YOUR NECK

Can I add our dreadful libel laws to this statement please? Much work is still to be done to protect forums when researching, highlighting and discussing rogue companies who prey on vulnerable consumers, from bullying libel threats.

My signature link gives more information of this subject.
"Although scalar fields are Lorentz scalars, they may transform nontrivially under other symmetries, such as flavour or isospin. For example, the pion is invariant under the restricted Lorentz group, but is an isospin triplet (meaning it transforms like a three component vector under the SU(2) isospin symmetry). Furthermore, it picks up a negative phase under parity inversion, so it transforms nontrivially under the full Lorentz group; such particles are called pseudoscalar rather than scalar. Most mesons are pseudoscalar particles." (finally explained to a captivated Celestine by Professor Brian Cox on Wednesday 27th June 2012 )

These words by JFK were in relation to the Bay of Pigs incident I believe. In the speech he actually called for two basic things, far better public information and far greater official secrecy for very good reasons.

He was actually criticising freedom of the press when the speech is taken in full, especially with their reporting during and after the above incident. The invasion, as we all know, failed in a matter of days and Castro was dealt a free hand by the US which led to the Cuban Missile Crisis a year later.

The part quotation does not quite give the full story, much as I applaud its sentiment.

Perhaps GB should adopt the First Amendment of the US?

these are great words and i put them in the same context as the “Gettysburg Address,”

they are great words spoken with true passion and belief

sadly lacking in the UK since our last great orator

            "winston churchil"

            not bad for a tory

            (DID I SAY THAT)

Indeed they are, but they are great words only partially in context. As I said I applaud the sentiment of these - I remember studying this speech and the Bay of Pigs Invasion as a schoolboy, along with the way it backfired on the US, as it enabled Castro to fire substantial propaganda at the US and to strengthen links with the Soviet Union. Although initiated by Eisenhower before Kennedy became President, it became a huge embarrassment for the US and its foreign policy.

JFK spoke many great words - he was indeed a superb orator.

I actually don't think one needs to hold the same political view as someone, or even agree with what they're saying, to appreciate that what they're saying is great.

First its a great speech, no matter what you take it to mean or what you think its about. One of the very best in the last 50 years at least, and one of my personal favorites.

That being said; The speech the speech serves multiple purposes.

                1. To appeal to the newspaper publishers (media) to be careful where matters of national security are concerned.

                2. To clarify the ways and means of the communist regimes they were fighting either openly (Vietnam), covertly (Cuba) or in cases such as the cold war (Russia).

                3. To ensure to the powers behind the media, that his administration would be as forthcoming and open as national security will allow.

                4. To make sure that they (the press) understand their true and most important task; to inform the people to best safeguard their present and future. Specifically any undue and unlawful secrecy in government specifically his administration.

Personally I think he may have made some implications where he spoke on the repugnance of secrets, secret societies, and secret oaths. I do not see any other reason he should have made such comments. They were not required to make his point, to me those words were "extra". Why he made the comments like that, only he knows, but the fact he made them they way he did, implies more than the rest of the speech states.

We can argue all day about it being about secret societies, or about communism, but in the end its about both. Too choose one aspect and claim that's it, belittles the speech and shows how little we as a people actually listen to what's said versus what we think or are told is said.

Read it, or listen to it again without your preconceived notions, without the Utube titles, and NOT from a conspiracy website or mindset. Do that with an open mind, hear whats said as it is and not what you wish or what somebody told you to hear in it, and hopefully it will start a chain reaction of careful thought, rather than blind acceptance. Then we won't have to worry about being led to our fate, but rather create our own.

President Kennedy was ALSO talking about were the SECRET SOCIETIES that run America BEHIND the scenes. You have to listen to the speech at least TWICE before you get this -- ESPECIALLY the remarks about "SECRET OATHS," "SECRET SOCIETIES" and "SECRET PROCEEDINGS."

Get it folks? This guy is talking about the very people that ultimately killed him.

the video was made by Ron Paul
                US congresman

Re: free speech is not dead

Indeed - it is much better and clearer in its entirety. It's interesting that people will always read different things into the same words, and commentators on this speech put different inferences on it. Your points 2 and 4 are all about clarifying the First Amendment which had been twisted. Indeed 1 and 3 are as well on re-reading them. It was a critical speech and I had never actually listened to a recording of it until now. It is very emotive - thank you!

Excellent, I'll look forward to that. It's funny how the stuff that was drummed into you at school, but you hated, is great reading now.

It will be interesting to see what they make of Guantanamo Bay! Illegal occupation by one of the world's top powers for 111 years. That will make for interesting discussion!

i have put in another JFK SPEECH, this time the cuban missile crisis

what i am trying to show is that JFK was a true statesman, he believed in a passion that was his calling. these things are not given to the kids in school to learn the values of brotherhood and equality, and the lengths people will go to preserve that liberty
