    Re: Refuse Collections

Have to say I agree with you Swifty, purely on the point of principle. Why should you pay and pollute the environment with your van (or motorbike!!!!) taking your recycling to the tip? Surely the journey there and back would do more harm to the environment than sticking it all in landfill. You pay your council tax, part of which is for refuse collection, so the way I look at it they should either take your refuse or refund part of your council tax.

That would be motorcycling, rather than recycling.

Hear, hear. It is the way of the world at the moment though. In all cases we are getting less for more and at work we are expected to give more for less.

As much as I try not to I always find myself agreeing with labman but I promise I am not a psycophant. Even if I do have very large ears. (and a small trunk, but I don't take that out in public)

the only solution i could find online was a compost bin

Where do I get a compost bin?

If you would like more information on where to get a compost bin please go to http://www.getcomposting.com/ or call 0844 571 4444.

other than that it may be worth calling the envirnomental health and saying this is getting ridonkulous!

            Re: Refuse Collections

Ours is "black" bin one week "green" the other.
Green is limited to plastic bottles (without lids) paper and card board. They will also take aluminuim cans and sprays (again minus lid)
Changed contractors last year who changed the day and the colour so "black" was not collected for almost a month.
Two other incidences recently, we replaced the bathroom and took it towed by a van to the local site were told we could only dispose of one item at a time as other wise it would be classed as "trade" waste.
The other a neighbour had the same with his internal doors was told he could only do it one door at a time (the waste disposal site is about nine miles away,)
            Never give up, Never surrender.

              Re: Refuse Collections

Highlights the fact that councils who are paid for by the council taxpayer are run by dictators with too much power seems they do all these stupid things cos they can and no one can do anything about the way they act commonsense goes out of the window remember power corrupts?

                Re: Refuse Collections

I'm thinking of writing a letter to the local press about this just to see what arrogant reply we get back from the council

I'm thinking the bin men must of had a bad day, they've emptied the bins with no problems since that one occasion.

                    Time will tell!
