  • Reject EU motorcycling legislation

A petition to reject EU legislation on motorbikes that is going to make it too expensive to use a bike.

Signed. I suppose the EU expect bikers to get off their bikes at the city/town/village limit and push it back to there houses if the bike is over 7 years old. The whole thing is bloody ludicrous and nothing more than even more EU interference in how people go about their lives.

Given that I have old Indian Flatheads, all would be difficult and impossible.

        Signed.

I almost always use after-market products rather stock parts because they are better.

Crazy - they're trying to make it so only the richest can run any form of motor transport. Agree with EXC that after market products are often better than genuine parts.

I'm not sure the air cooled argument will do the cause much good, but on the whole I totally support the petition.

There was an atempt a few years ago by Bencz and VAG to do the same thing with car parts . Allegedly it was to improve safety. Of course it was an attempt to control the after marlet and force old cars off the roads. The car co's could then maiximise profits and make your car obselete and worthless by stopping productio n of the parts.

Its similar for all manufacturers of branded parts. My business revolves around remanufactured OEM products, and they OEM brands have for years being trying to stop the remanufacturing industry. In particular is inks and toner cartridges, where they put chips on to prevent the cartridges being used again thinking the remanufacturing industry would not develop a chip of its own to counter it. Now lexmark have done a software update to their printers that prevents anything but OEM lexmark inks being used - All this at a time when people are trying to help save the enivorment and are basically being denied the ability to buy more enviromentally friendly products, such as remanufactured or Recycled products by the OEM brands.

Been some years since I last straddled a bit of half-decent machinery that didn't sound like a food-processor or lawnmower.

Signed - in memory of Meriden.

LOL! And mine - last but one time I straddled a motorbike I fell out with a transit van and it won - quite easily in fact! I rode one once again just to prove I could, but I swear there was a brown trail coming from the exhaust (and not the bikes!)

I do remember this subject being aired through Mototcycle News some 20 years back, I do know that MAG are working on this case and have been for a good few years.
The root of this is the EU from Brussels who have relentlessly pressed for this, very un-fortunate for all new and old motorcyclists who want to do something different.
