    Re: Copyright

It was a special resolution in 1988 passed by the house of lords via admendment of the Copyright, Designs & Patents Act, which was made for so that the hospital and children would still benefit from the income the copryright of peter pan provided.

It is the only resolution of its kind, therefore the law is still the same for everyone as the admendment to the act in 1988 has no effect on any other copyright holder's work or ownership.

In Addition heres some info on how long copyright lasts:

Typical duration of legal copyright protection:Normal protection provided by the Berne Convention is life of the author plus fifty years from death, with the following exceptions:
    • Film, cinematographic work:50 years from the making of the work, or if made available to the public within the 50 years, (i.e. by publication or performance), 50 years from the date the author first makes the work available to the public.
    • Anonymous works:50 years from the date made available to the public.
    • Artistic works, such as photographs and applied art:At least 25 years from creation.

Duration will always run from January 1st of the year following the event indicated.
In all cases, individual national laws can, and often will, allow additional protection over and above the terms of the Convention. For example, in the UK most work is protected for the life of the author plus 70 years. The Convention sets out what authors can realistically expect. There are also exceptions allowed for countries bound by the Rome Act.

      Re: Copyright

Having visited the Central Library in Birmingham this morning, I admit to being as confused as ever. In this book, which they are unsure who 'owns' it (remember, author and publisher and printer no longer exist) are a few of the images which are the copyright of the Library, being the holder of collections, manuscripts and books on all aspects of local geneology history etc etc. That is simply filling out a request form for use of these materials. I will do that but as to the book itself, all they can suggest is contacting the authors estate (he left a wife and daughter). This is hard work!!
