  • Problems with a laptop

My mum bought a laptop 8 weeks ago from Comet.

She has had nothing but problems with it since.

It has already been to the workshop for 3 weeks because of the harddrive having issues and creating 3 partitions that would not be deleted.
Numerous buttons have refused to work and have even detached.

So in 8 weeks she has had approx 4 days use out of it.

It has to be sent away AGAIN due to not working properly.

Surely she has grounds to ask Comet for a new Laptop as this one is clearly not fit for purpose?

        Re: Problems with a laptop

I've just rung Comet's 'customer services'. The first guy I spoke to fully agreed that 3 days use of a laptop in 8 weeks is not acceptable and put me through to the complaints department.

The woman there, what a snooty wench she was!!

"It's up to Acer to decide that the laptop is not repairable" when I pointed out that the sale of goods act says the contract is with the retailer NOT the manufacturer she then said "well you would have to prove the fault was there on purchase" To which I told her that the onus is on the manufacturer to provide the proof NOT the consumer, after this she got uppity and told me she would only speak to the owner....

        *sheesh*

She refused to give it....I asked for it to give to my dad/ mum so they wouldn't have to explain too much and she refused.

*Just remembered she accessed the account of my parents so it should be logged*

These conversations are often 'recorded for training purposes'.
Were you told this? (Usually a pre-recorded announcement before you actually get to speak to someone)
