Faulty computer programs

Greeting!

So over the last several months I have bough a verity of second hand computer programs off of feebay
Now a couple of them appear to be faulty! and do not work

I would like to write to these companies requesting that they resolve my issues. but without any understanding the law around this my letter will simply be laughed at and throughn in the bin!

So as to get them to do anything; is there any consumer rights acts that I may find such information in that you know about please?

How did you pay for the software?

You are covered by the Consumer Rights Act.

The software still has to be satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described.

Be prepared for push back i.e. you did something etc.

Which companies are you planning on writing to? The company that made the software or the company that sold you the software?

You only have consumer rights with the company that sold you the software and only then if it really was a company/trader and not a private seller. If the latter then to all intents and purposes you have no rights unless the advert was misleading.

Dose the goods of sales act state that it must last for a reasonable amount of time; something like 7 years?
Some of these CDs are 30 years old, still in good working order with no scraches on them and so long as that is the case then they should never go faulty. I mean once the data has been burn to disk thats it! you can not write or format it again
