  • Modelmodz scam

A company called Model modz Ltd (she makes enhanced electronics for model cars that can be purchased from a company called FANHOME) has been taking orders and overtime has not fulfilled order. Then communication is lies, flimsy excuses and blanking. They have been taking the proverbial with people ordering from them at their site WWW.MODELMODZ.COM, (which now today has a notice up that they are in the process of liquidation) and the facebook page BUILD THE KITT KNIGHT RIDER 1.8 SCALE MODS, of which My husband placed an order in 11th October 2024 for Knight Rider enhancements, and he is still waiting. He has sent emails, one of the few replies was "it would be out in 10 days". No order received. He has emailed again and due to the replies, even though he really wants the parts, he felt he had no choice but to ask for a refund, to which the reply was "no problem". He is still waiting. In the meantime, late 2025, parts for other builds i.e Batmobile, Delorean, more concentrated on, been made and sent out, as seen in posts on the pages.
There are lots of people she has done this too and as she is a moderator of most of the facebook pages for these builds, post where anyone questions , why they have received nothing, are taken down.
Some people placed orders as late as January 2026, as the website was still advertising as having parts still in stock.
she knowingly took orders, with the intention of not fulfilling them. Alot of people have lost hundreds.
my question is can she be prosecuted?

How much was paid, and how was it paid?

You are not going to get anything out of the liquidation, so we need to examine whether you may have a claim under s75 Consumer Credit Act 1974 or whether you are able to request a chargeback.

Hi Atticus, it was paid using PayPal, who say, the period of time to claim back money has lapsed. This is due to being strung along by her.

Iam in the same boat I used a company called zilch to pay a total off £316 but because been so long they said not much they can do. She knows what’s she’s doing holding people’s payment so long with excuses so you can’t claim it back. I been waiting 2 years with poor excuses to now this.

I am not sure how zilch works, but if it is a credit provider I think you would have a claim under s75 Consumer Credit Act 1974. This makes the credit provider jointly and severally liable with the seller of goods for the seller's breach of contract - in this case not delivering the goods for which you have paid.

Model Modz Ltd is not currently shown on Companies House web site as being in liquidation - https://find-and-update.company-info...mpany/11601822

How long has that notice been on modelmodz.com? There can be a 3 or 4 week delay in Companies House being updated.

What she says is correct - if this company is indeed going into liquidation.
