About 5 years ago I bought a jumper from my Daughter's school, it went into holes, and the school told me to contact the manufacturer to sort the complaint. I was advised that my contract for item quality was with the school, as they sold the item.
Fast forward to today. Can I ask a question about this principle of who is responsible for "work / product purchased quality", which may or not be related to the original post about the jumper?
We took a car with a dash EML fault to a garage, and we were promised that when we got the car back the boss (who had our car left specifically in his care) would check it over first / the light would be gone. They contracted out the work to a garage nearby. This garage now say they have no record of the work "because they updated their computer system last year".
EML was not gone out, mechanic doing the collection couldn't / didn't know how to switch it off. Long story short, we have just discovered by taking the car to a specialist in the marque, that the wrong part was fitted. "Wrong" as in what the car code read said needed replacing, but not a compatible part for that model.
This is why when we computer reset the car, and told it that there was no longer a problem with that part, the car was constantly adamant that the original fault still existed and the EML came back on..
Who is responsible for the quality of work that we paid £400 for? That garage we left the car with / and have the payment invoice for, or the garage that did the work?
We now have another £500 bill to fix the car - again, hopefully.
