Hired a small lorry type van with a tail lift for the purpose of putting motorcycles in the back - there were limited anchors to secure the bikes with straps ,, the vehicle was in a poor condition, clearly well. Used - driver mentioned this but was told to use wooden anchors on the roof - there were no other vehicles available
the driver was extremely experienced -
the destination was 100 miles away, went down the motorway was in middle lane and the vehicle just stopped , there were no electrics - the driver was stranded - and at great risk of- big queues forming -
a truck came to assist, and pushed the broken down vehicle to a lay-by .
the hire company had been informed and they sent a recovery vehicle - some four hours later - it gave the broken down vehicle a piggy bag to its intended destination.
another 3 hours and they arrived - it was set down and the vehicle s’ back was opened !! all the bikes had become tipped over causing extensive damage, to them all - still couldn’t get them out as the electric tail lift didn’t work -
this was an event planned weeks ago, so much cost involved,
all ruined -
can a claim be made
