Dealer garage repaired my 7 year old low mileage car and it broke down by the second drive out with same issue. Towed to same dealer garage who claimed the fault was not related to their work. They could not diagnose exact fault so replaced half of engine. Car broke down again straight away with same issue. Towed to same garage. Again, could not diagnose but said it was due to a new issue not relating to their work, suggested new repairs/replacement parts. Car broke down again straight away with same issue. Towed to garage who then informed us the car is now a write off and needs a new engine. Have been charged thousands for all these repairs and car has been in garage for months. Arranged for independent inspection. Garage told inspector that they didn't have results from previous diagnostics. Garage claiming essential part (that is most likely to be the cause if all the breakdowns) was working and yet the breakdown service noted that it wasn't working . At a loss and vulnerable. Any advice as to where I stand legally would be welcome and received with many thanks.

Hi
If you end up having to make a claim (court, chargeback, section 75) you will need a timeline of events to prove the garage failed to provide reasonable care and skill under CRA 2015
You should write a list of events in chronological order, with a paragraph for each date, stating what happened. Include the fault with the car, the tow to the garage, the work the garage said they did (invoice?), how much and how you paid and when the fault recurred. State how many days the garage kept the car to undertake the repair
