Insurance claime on chest freezer

Hi. I have a chest freezer under insurance. The question is, can I claim for the removal of the old one as it contains hazardous gas and nobody wants to touch these items. This must hapen to hundreds of people.

If your insurance doesn't cover it, a national online company (AO) offers remove and recycle when you buy a new appliance, or collect and recycle (customer doesn't have to buy a new appliance). The customer must ensure the freezer is fully defrosted

My local council will collect and dispose of old freezers. I have make a booking and get it to the kerbside but otherwise no issues. My council does it for free but most will.charge.

Okay so it is up to me to source a return company or a company that delivers and recycles. Unless the insurr specifies then it is up to me.

My LA charges about £60 to pick up a maximum of 5 bulky items, including freezers

Yes, sometimes things are your responsibility and not someone else's.

Unlikely your insurer will arrange to remove the old freezer but pay to get it removed yourself then submit the invoice as part of your claim and ask to be reimbursed and see what they say.
