Paid £10k deposit (£9k debit card £1k credit) for new timber windows, went to joinery workshop for an update and transpires made windows to wrong sizes. Attempted to resolve though no joy. Is Chargeback or Section 75 best to claim money back?

Did the company measure for the windows?

Yes they came to measure and after commencing constructing windows I noticed looked different and ask for their measurments and noted was all wrong. Attempted a charge back for £9k though bank stating retailer given evidence no refund due. Is it worth trying credit card side?

What is the company proposing to do? Are they saying they will remake them to the correct size?

Is your contract for them to install the windows as well?

This sounds like an s75 claim on the credit card, with a possible request for a chargeback on the debit card.

Company saying will look fine.... we don't our windows ripping out and they don't fit. Yes they are to install too. Is S75 stronger than Charge Back?

Yes, but it is only available in respect of credit cards.

Thought if only paid £1000 on credit card could claim whole amount?

                  [You] Thought correct.

But s75 Consumer Credit Act 1974 can only be used with a credit card company. Any claim against the debit card provider can only be a chargeback.
