TLDR; Ordered a branded patio door but supplier installed one of inferior quality without telling us. We paid 50% up front. We complained and asked for the door to be replaced with the one we thought we'd ordered. That was 3 months ago. Since then we've learnt that we can get the actual door we want from a main distributor for roughly the same price on a quick lead time. We've been advised to write a letter regarding the CRA2015 and the items not being as described and being misrepresented and giving 14 days for the situation to be resolved. We aren't convinced the supplier can supply the correct door and neither are we convinced he could install it properly. We'd like to cut the whole relationship immediately and order from the main dealer but we aren't sure where we stand with paying for the other half of the original door if we do that and don't give the supplier chance to replace it. Also if by some outside chance he has ordered a replacement where would we stand if he turned up with that after we ordered a new one. It would be nice to get our 1st installment back but we are more concerned about moving on and getting the door of our choice properly installed.
Any thoughts on what we can do to get out of this nightmare? Have we got to wait 14 days as we'd like to move on and order a new one asap as it's dragged on for so long now?
