Having received 2 letters in the post from companies I have no association with I set about trying to find out where they got my details from, to date I have discovered that five data/marketing companies have been sharing my details none of whom I have heard of nor given them permission to do so but I still haven't discovered where they originally came from, however I will continue to contact each one until I do. I had registered with the MPS service several years ago but was able to re-register so it is possible my registration had expired, I am also not on the open electoral register. I do intend to file a report with the ICO but my question is could I claim compensation from these companies for sharing my address without my knowledge? Thank you

You may... but compensation might not be very much.

or nothing. Addresses have been sold for years! Junk mail is still a thing and probably always will be.

MPS doesn't expire, despite what scammers tell you

The trouble is that you still do not know which company has shared your address.
