Looking at what is happening in Scotland re: refuse collection I am thinking one-step-ahead, and I can see local authority workers going on strike country-wide.
As a family we generate a fair amount of waste and non-emptying of our bins would be a catastrophe - it would get very messy and smelly quickly. I have some questions:
(1) If I had to make alternative arrangements to dispose of my rubbish could I claim costs back off the council? Small claims rather than sue?
(2) Could you point me to the legislation which governs refuse collection and sets out the obligations of the local authority?
(3) Could I sue them for non provision of service? Or at the least get a partial refund of council tax to cover the non provision of service?
I can see this wintering being a winter of chaos and disruption/
Thanks!
