  • Problem with item value on customs form

So, last week I sent a £13 pair of reading glasses to Ireland. When I was in the Post Office, the assistant asked me the value of the contents, and I stated £15. It has today arrived in Dublin.....with a request to pay some 45 Euro in import duty. The value on the customs form that I've seen is 154.62 Euros!!! I haven't a clue who this has happened. The package has, quite rightly, be refused in Dublin. I am going to the PO on Saturday to try find out what happened but is there anything I can do myself, online?

The item was finally returned, with the original customs docket torn off.

Good news that you got them back. Perhaps in the future fill in the customs forms yourself - usually they pass you them to do so yourself and then you know there is no error!

Yeh, I'm convinced the local PO made the error
