    I would pursue your card issuer for all losses, don't accept 'piece meal' offers.
    Write to the card issuer, explain that the car dealer sent a cheque, it bounced.

    Tell them if all 'consequential losses' aren't refunded, then you will lodge a complaint
    with the Financial Ombudsman Service. Your card issuer then has to pay the FOS
    to look into your complaint.

    Don't bother communicating with the car dealer now. If you do, you'll go around in
    circles again.

      The dealer's cheque bounced the first time but was represented by my bank and finally cleared.
      A successful outcome.
