  • What am I entitled to?

    Hi guys
I purchased a car from a dealership about 5 months ago. 3.5 years old £12k odd paid upfront.
They agreed to get the battery replaced in Sept (they got it from a motor factors) after I bought the car in July as the stop start wasnt working.
The SS worked for a bit but then didn't work but everything else was fine.
Then one evening a couple of weeks ago i went out to the car and it wouldn't start and keyless entry wouldnt work.
I have full RAC cover, the guy came out and found that the battery had a cell that had gone faulty and it would need a new battery. It was 6pm in the evening it was dark and the car wouldnt drive and the dealership was 20 miles away.
He had a New Varta AGM battery on board and i had work to get to 29 miles in the morning.
These battery's aren't cheap, around £230 and he could fit it there and then. I paid him, he gave me a 3 page receipt detailing how the fault was found, readings from the faulty battery, cost etc etc.
I'd already spoke to the woman at the dealership telling her the situation saying that I would drop the faulty battery into her, which I did today.
She said what should have happened is, I should have got the car over to the dealership (stranded car that doesn't drive and 20 miles away) because they would have to check out the battery for themselves and make a decision, if found to be faulty it would be exchanged by the motor factors that supplied it, not refunded?
My point: Getting it trailered over to them would cost over £100, loss of a days pay about another £100, gone 6pm in the evening, proof from RAC that 3 month old battery had failed.
Am i not entitled to reimbursement or is my best bet getting a replacement from them that i now dont need and selling it online at £60 less than it would normally cost?
Your thoughts are appreciated as always.
