  • Prepaid Car Washes - Car Wash changes name & will not accept certificates.

    Hello everyone,

This may sound trivial in scope especially to scale of other concerns shared in the forum. Maybe this will be interesting from an academic perspective.

    PROBLEM
Prepaid car washes from company that since went through changes (name change/ownership/insert change reason) and locations refuse to honor certificates.

    OBJECTIVE
Have original location honor prepaid car washes.

    CASE
Thinking there would be legal precedent where if said company was purchased and changed names (as one person explains it to us) then the purcjase itself includes assets and liabilities (credit/debit.)

    BACKGROUND
We purchased a large book of prepaid car washes from a local car wash chain. Car washes were good at any of their locations. Over time the available locations started changing names - unclear if this would have been from selling off locations, legal name change strategies or maybe a mix of both.

Everything was ok for a while as we still had one location that kept the original name. Earlier this year that location permanently closed.

We have apx. $300 in prepaid washes. The primary location from which the purchased was made states they do not accept the prepaid certificates. Ironically google searches still reference the same locations. Phone number remains active - answered by the same location refusing certificates. Communication efforts with fhe original car wash chain result in no response.

Any grounds here to have certificates honored (or refunded?)

Unfortunately we are a UK website.

Just ask if they will honour the certificates, if they do they will get continued business from you and you will spread the word.
