  • Need a Human Rights Solicitor or Barrister

    Hello,

I am looking for a recommendation of a Solicitor or Barrister who can help me prepare an application of Human Rights (Act), very likely in the European Court of Human Rights. I already know about the EHRC, Law Society, Citizens Advice Bureaus, Law Centres, Liberty, Amal Clooney, Amnesty International, etc. People at the level of Amal Clooney's company will not even talk to me.
What I really need is someone who actually knows a professional who does this sort of job. I have come across many people who just advice on Human Rights but do not do the job.
    Thanks

I think we would need more detail for someone to point you in the right direction - what sort of case is this?

Thanks for the reply. It is about children's rights to well being and health, discrimination, Article 8 Right to family life. Mainly.

No answers. This is the problem, I just cannot find people who do this in the UK.

What you're asking for help with is a niche area of law where as this is a consumer rights forum so focuses mainly on that subject area rather than human rights issues which is notoriously complicated.

I would suggest you look for direct access barristers using the Bar Council's portal (directaccessportal.co.uk) or the Law Society' find a solicitor portal (https://solicitors.lawsociety.org.uk/) and make some enquiries. There could be a number of reasons why a barrister or solicitor may not want to take your case on particularly if you are looking for them to do it on a pro-bono basis in the ECtHR.

Like I said, I am looking for leads or recommendations as I already know about the directories.

Then I would say the lack of responses says it all, and wish you luck in finding someone.

I agree. This sounds like a "cause" rather than an individual case - are there any charities working in this area which could help you?

Contact UNICEF - United Kngdom, no doubt they have a contact list and might share details or provide a path forward.

What is this supposed to mean? And I did not come here asking for best wishes.

It is not a cause, it is an actual case, do not change the subject. I know why I am looking for representation and not for a charity organisation.

I have said twice that I already know of organisations and bodies like the law society. I am clearly looking for somebody who knows somebody.

It means what it says on the tin, we don't have any recommendations for you so you are best looking elsewhere. Barristers are specialist court advocates, it is their bread and butter and there are plenty out there who have taken cases up to the ECtHR so if you can't be bothered to get on the direct access portal and make some calls, then you are unlikely to get what you're asking for.

A legal professional from their contact list that can help you prepare a case to take it to ECHR.

Given that we do not actually know what the subject is I would find it difficult to change it. People here are trying to make suggestions based on very little information but clearly we are not doing enough to satisfy you. I doubt we can do anything further to assist. You reject our suggestions and best wishes which is fine - we can do little more.
