  • Compensation for incurred travel costs

    Hi folks,

My partner and I booked a week's holiday at Pontins. When we arrived the apartment was dirty beyond belief. We complained and the manager stated there were no alternative apartments. We left. I submitted a complaint and the full cost of the holiday was refunded. At the time of the complaint I pointed out that I wished to be reimbursed for the cost of the fuel, to their site, from my home, and back. 286 miles. This amounted to just over £34. They refused. Do you think I would have good grounds for redress via the County Courts?

    Many thanks for your time.

    Hi MARK041067

How did you pay for your holiday?

Credit card. But that's not really my issue. They have refunded me the full cost of the holiday. The bit I am out of pocket for, is the travel to Pontins and back.

Yes, but your Credit Card provider could look at 'consequential losses' under Section 75. Go back to your Credit Card provider, amend and send them the following template. It's something that they could have looked at when your original claim went through. They will play 'hardball', but persist. Get Proof of Posting.

Sorry. When you say “it’s something they could have looked at…….” Who do you mean by ‘they’.

I’ll look at the link and will now contact the CC company.

If you'd known about it, the Credit Card company could have looked at your 'consequential losses' when they refunded the cost of the holiday. It's not a huge amount, they should just refund.
