  • Salary Deduction refused by employer

I'm trying to get a lease car through a scheme approved by my employer.
I don't qualify for 'salary sacrifice' with regards to the monthly payments. However, I have agreed Salary Deduction, where the monthly payment is made at source from my wages by payroll.
My employer has refused this, stating that they have a policy of 'duty of care' and will not allow any salary deduction that exceeds 30% of my monthly salary, which this repayment does.
They will not take into account the fact I also have a private monthly pension and other income, which means that the repayment is actually closer to 8% of my monthly incomings.
Can an employer refuse to set up a salary deduction? And can they stop me spending my money, that I earned, how I want?
