I had a flood in my kitchen due to a faulty tap which damaged the carcass of the cabinet and also went under laminate flooring
The laminate is continuous throughout the ground floor so goes through the kitchen/diner into the living room then on into the hallway however the insurance company are saying they will only replace in the kitchen/diner to the natural break which does not exist.
As I understand it the idea of house insurance is to restore to it's former condition and as we do not know the brand of laminate used cannot match it.
It seems they are suggesting they will just cut the existing laminate at the Kitchen/diner doorway and lay a different laminate, this to my mind will not only look bad but also introduce a situation where a gap for expansion will be left which will collect floor debris or they will install a connector which will raise the lip in the doorway which is not how any of the other doorways are fitted and may interfere with the door but moreover will not look the same.
Do I have grounds to contest this claim response? If so who would I go to if they refuse to change their reponse?
TIA
