Insurance want proof and offer poor alternative

I had premium insurance, contents of my car and others were robbed whilst parked (and locked) on my drive, they say cars were not locked (to avoid payout i guess) I knew what was in mine so made sure I locked it! I listed items taken and was told I have to prove I owned them - I dont have receipts some were gifts - one item I did provide proof of is discontinued yet they have offered another model which is not as good or a much less cash settlement that wont enable me to get anything like the original -

It’s not unreasonable for an insurer to ask for evidence that items were actually owned as exaggerated insurance claims are fairly widespread.
You should try to provide as much evidence for the claim as possible eg any photos which include the items, or statements from the donors of the gifts.

the item they have offered to replace... how old? and is your contents policy new for old in all sections? (I haven't looked up your previous posts on this incident)
