I sold a car engine on Ebay. I sent a prospective buyer a video of the engine working, in situ in the car, and he came and saw it running. He agreed to purchase it; I removed it from the car, including some ancillaries for ease of fitting. The buyer took the engine away. He has just fitted it to his car; he fitted a new clutch and just prior to fitting the engine noticed some play in the crankshaft. He went ahead and fitted the engine anyway. Now he is saying he is not sure the engine will last because when the clutch is depressed there is a screeching noise. I sold the engine in good faith; it ran perfectly when I had the engine in the car and there were no problems with the clutch. I need to know where I stand because I suspect the buyer is going to demand his money back and I no longer have it (the engine was sold to finance another project). Can anyone advise?
