i started operating as a sole trader in 2003. In 2003/4 i made the company a LTD co and made my 17 yr old brother a director and equal shareholder. in 2006 i went to prison. in 2006 my brother seized control of the business and stole my share. i was not told until 2014 when i was released. my brother told me he would return my share. while i was working at the business my brother used £25,000 from the business account to pay the deposit on a house which he bought. i was recalled back to prison within 6 months. i then received a letter from his solicitor saying i had no claim on the business and everything had been done legally and there was nothing i could do. they offered me £10,000 to leave everything alone. i had no access to legal advice and was in poor mental health. Feeling vulnerable and that i had no options i asked for £20,000 and they agreed. They immediately closed the business and opened it the next day in a new name and with my brother and his wife as the directors and shareholders. they recently used the house they bought using the deposit from the business and was now mortgage free as collateral for the farm the business is on and the business is now worth a minimum £1,000,000. i have now learned that they never had any claim on my share of the original business and it was not legal for them to say they did and mislead me. i have tried to get a solicitor to do a no win no fee claim but i cant find anyone to do it. can anyone help me?
