  • Tradesperson/cooling off

    Hi all-
A customer booked some work in. He used a generic name at the time. The dilemma is, he has cancelled out of his cooling off period-now we are at a loss.
The dilemma is, it turns out his wife owns the house who we sent the confirmation to- but we dont know his full legal name.

Ive used electoral roll records and cant find him. Technically the contract is between our company and him. His wife did come on the last call where she tried to persuade us to move the job.

From a legal perspective im asusming the only way to do this is to get an actual legal name for him and issue in that name?

    Many thanks.

    Your assumption is correct.

Why did you accept a booking made using a generic name (whatever that is)? If it is going to be important, verify the information.

You could obtain Land Registry details to see who owns the property. That may give you the name.
