  • Loss of Earnings Being a Carer And Social Services

I have been on career break since 2017 looking after my dad who has dementia. He has his house in trust and money. Council have dismissed this although I am going to challenge it and whether we can get continuing care. So far my loss of earnings from my job has been 18k. The reason I took a break is that he was not going to be getting any help from social services and the fact he would lose his assets if he went into a home. If it gets to the stage where I can't look after him I am going to be out of pocket considerably from the loss of earnings and any inheritence, I suppose I have no leg to stand on in at least getting back my loss in earnings?
