PPI Claim ongoing with HSBC

Hi I've an ongoing claim with HFC/HSBCfor PPI we took out on a loan back in 2005. Anyway long story short 2 months on we phoned to see if there was any update and they said they're calculating the figure, I just assumed it'd been ruled in our favour but the contact centre said they can't confirm this and we should wait on a letter. They said it's another team investigating and this is all they can see on the system.

Has anybody had this before ? Do they just calculate the figure before they've made a decision? It sounds positive to me but I'm not getting my hopes up just yet.
