Please help with late self assessments

I didnt fill out two self assessments for the years 05/06 and 06/07 and hm revenue and customs sent me letters saying that i owed the £8000, when i asked them why it was £8000 they said they guessed it.. After trying to fight this they sent me a CCJ and im now paying them around £52 a week back. i dont believe i owe this as i was only working self employed for a month and in the 06/07 year i was working full time on the cards for mitside contrution ltd.. If you can help this would be great..
