  • Harassment from Debt Collectors

    Hello

Last year my parents received an invoice from an insurance firm which was sent to their house but was addressed to an individual they had never heard of. It seemed as if someone had been using my parents address fraudulently; hence my parents informed the insurance company immediately that the person did not live at their address.

Despite this, the debt was passed to a debt collection company and a further letter was received. My parents informed this company and they confirmed no further action would be taken by an additional letter.

Today, a further debt collection company contacted my parents and threatened a visit by the bailiffs. My parents contacted them and then the police to obtain a crime reference number.

My parents are ill and I do not want any further contact of this kind. The question I have is who can I contact and can I threaten legal action for harassment. It is the mistake of the insurance company: can I write to them and demand that this stop and it it doesn't, file an injunction?

    Thanks in advance.
