I have just had my end of year review and was extremely surprised to find I was considered as under performing and within the bottom 5% of the company.
I had not previously had any indication throughout the year that there were any issues.
When I asked for justification from my line manager he said it was not down to my achievement but down to perception and compared to my 'peers' at the same grade I was underperforming.
I peform a product management role and work within a BU of the company so it is quite difficult to compare to a similar role in another part of the company.
I have challenged the rating and waiting for it to be reviewed with HR.
I feel this is a popularity contest - I am a mother of 3 working full time ( in a very male environment) - and don't really have the time to promote myself beyond the reviews with senior management that are already in place working on the basis that the output of my work and results should speak for themselves but this doesn't seem to be the case.
Just wondering what my legal options and how I can go about my review with HR to get the best possible outcome for myself?
