In regards to Scotland I have managed to find the Concordat of understanding between devolved governments:

Page 8 has a section on International Relations and the EU

https://www.gov.uk/government/upload...istrations.pdf
Amethyst, not sure if you want the document on the facts thread so did not put it on there.

In regards to Northern Ireland and the Good Friday Agreement I didn't see too much stuff on EU but a ton of stuff on ECHR(which is not to do with the EU before anyway tells me something I know ).

C Wright Mills wrote about society being controlled by a may be 1 or 2% of the population who have all the power, in military, politics, the media, big business. The military industrial complex for example

That's not the right question - the question is Article 50 just political rhetoric. I was thinking this too, that unless the UK were to invoke Article 50 that we are still a member of the EU. If invoking said Article were essentially a Death Knell, would the elites, besides democracy problems in this situation, really pull the plug on 1) the EU project despite its problems, or 2), would the political and other elites of the UK sign its own country's death where they have all the control currently. Nevertheless this would only be a termination from the EU's legal view: Treaty of Lisbon, which the UK signed. However, for the UK to remove itself from the EU it requires Parliamentary action, ie to potentially repeal the European Communities Act 1972.

It is possible therefore that the "poison chalice" would be passed on to Cameron's successor, who may not invoke Article 50: http://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews...id=mailsignout The European Communities Act 2011, pertaining to referendums states "if the government of the day" agrees. The thing is though the government of the day were clearly not in accord with the entity that is 'the government.' Nicola 'Scotland Independence' also believes there could be a constitutional quagmire as in her view, or her lawyer's more likely, given Scotland enjoys 'devolved powers' that where Parliament usurps or diminishes Scotland's 'devolution' there is a right to invoke a constitutional convention: some form of protect that's a rule but not law.

I just want to bring up a slightly different point and I know you want an in depth argument as to why some people like myself voted Leave.

IF once we have enacted the Article 50 for withdrawal from the EU then in less than a generation decided we wanted another referendum to go back into the EU then the elephant in the room would come out.

Do we want the pound sterling or the EURO? That could throw up a lot of things into the mix. It might also help the lost 63% of 18-24 year olds to leave their beds and get out and exercise their democratic right and VOTE. For many who have criticised the older generations for ruining for everyone else, it is a lesson in democracy that one vote does actually count and in a referendum can make a difference.

At the moment the volatility in the markets may well be short term and is not helped by Cameron resigning but in 6 months maybe our assessment might be a little different.

Re: That referendum ...

You do not need to be rolling in it or a player on the stock market to be affected by the crash! You do not have to be a fat cat or an old Etonian to be flattened by the collapse of the banks.
Surely we realise that without employers there are no jobs. Without investors we have no private pensions or investment in business. Without the banks we are completely scuppered. Look -I do not like to see million pound bonuses doled out and I am disgusted that the public coffers are used to bail out the banks. When they mess up they should be held to account but organisations INCLUDING LEGAL BEAGLES BY THE WAY are putting more and more pressure on to get reforms applied to the system.
To put it simply -If we have no money going through the hands of these boys then we have no money, no jobs and no social welfare. No NHS, no safety nets, no bailouts- nothing.
Not all the people who keep the economy going went to Eaton! Why is their so much resentment because some people claw their way to the top and then create employment? Why are we so desperate to slap down anyone with a job in the financial sector -because we assume they must be members of the ‘old school tie brigade’? If that is why then we are guilty of prejudice.
I do not like being judged by my accent. I also resent the fact that a person should be judged on where they went to school be it Eaton or the local comp. I will also admire anyone who works their way up the greasy pole and not judge those who were a shoe in just because daddy was ‘something in the city’.
