  • Missing PPI page on SAR request NRAM

Hello, Im new to the Forum and have been embroiled in a long battle with NRAM over a MPPI we had and looking for a bit of advice.

Its a long story but in a nutshell we seem to have had a policy since 2002 with Northern Rock and then L&G that we didnt know we had. We didnt know we had it for it was on a property we never bought and so the paperwork has been going to that address for the last 14 years! There seems to be no reason why we would have taken it out for we were both in good solid jobs at the time. We thought it was a life insurance policy.

Everone in the chain has agreed that we had the policy after initially NRAM denying it, but NRAM are now saying the broker sold it to us not them directly. So i requested a SAR and NRAM said it would prove that they didnt sell it to us and was done through a broker. When the SAR documents came back incredibly the one page on the Mortgage application (section 13 PPI page) was missing! I phoned them up and they first said I didnt request it and then said they may not have it due to being 2004 and so they dont have to keep it. Its quite incredible that everything else is there except that one page!!! On the next section there is a tick on the form to say we filled it in, but we have no recollection of ever doing that and that could have been done by anyone.

I have contacted the FOS and am about to proceed with them but does anyone have any thoughts whether better for me to keep dealing direct with NRAM and keep pushing them, or is better to continue with the FOS and let them try and unwrangle this mess. Or anyone come across something like this before?

    Many thanks,
