speeding fine

Hi guy's new to legal beagles just a quick one. Was caught speeding paid the £100 fine and. Forgot to send my license to them but wen I did they sent it back and said they are taking me to court. And the £100 would be returned if I went to court I would have to stay in a hotel take time off work because it miles away from wr I live any ideas what to do next. Thanks
