Hi,
I am writing to address a recent incident and seek guidance regarding a flight delay compensation claim with British Airways.
On a Saturday, 03/02/24, my partner and I were scheduled to fly from São Paulo, Brazil, to London at 16:20. However, upon arriving at the boarding gate, we were informed that the flight had been cancelled due to the pilot falling ill. The airline rescheduled the flight for the following day at 22:30
When we eventually took off the next day, the departure was delayed until midnight. Upon reaching our destination at Heathrow Airport, we experienced further delays, spending an additional hour on the plane before being allowed to disembark and another 45 minutes wait to retrieve our luggage.
I submitted a compensation claim to British Airways, however, I received a denial stating that the delay was beyond the airline's control. I believe that the delay were within the airline's responsibility, and I would like to contest this decision.
Any information or guidance you can provide on how to proceed with the contestation process would be greatly appreciated.
