  • Got caught shoplifting in Waitrose and I’m terrified and ashamed

Hello, yesterday I got caught shoplifting £37 groceries from Waitrose. It was two bottles of alcohol which made things worse and the security guards mocked me for it. One of them remembered me doing it the previous week he didn’t know what I had but was almost entirely food not alcohol. They banned me for life from the stores which I accept and don’t plan to return. I begged them not to call police and they didn’t. They did take a photo of me and I gave me name and address as I got to scared to lie. They gave me a paper saying I’m banned and if I go into the stores it’s tresspassing and if I steal again which I clearly don’t plan to it will be burglary and I will be charged. They didn’t mention anything about CCTV evidence but the store def has cameras everywhere. I got caught because the guard remembered me from last week. I’m terrified that they might give my details to police afterwards and I get arrested. It will destroy my career and life. I can’t believe why I thought the consequences wouldn’t be that severe before doing it but I do sadly now. Anyone has any knowledge to tell me what are the odds of them giving details to police? Or searching my face through cctv data for face recognition and find out I’ve done it other times in the past ? Thank you
